In 2010, Gretel started Police Exam Solutions (PES), to help agencies find the finest, most qualified candidates to fulfill their recruiting needs.

After working with law enforcement over the last 19 years, Ms. Hartman has gained a better understanding of what makes a successful police officer in the 21st century. In today's climate, she found that candidates need more than just the ability to read, write, and perform arithmetic. 

"Today, we need officers with empathy, compassion, and the ability to communicate with not only their superiors, but the community. We need officers that can control their temper, and demonstrate a willingness to learn." These are just some of attributes that agencies have come to value as the best traits indicative of a successful police officer.

She lives in Arlington, and when she's not working, is an avid runner who enjoys the outdoors, and the local music scene.
