The Rochester Police Department's 2020 Entry Exam: UPDATE

ANNOUNCING: “IN-HOME TESTING”

from Police Exam Solutions & the Rochester Police Department

Police Exam Solutions is pleased to announce the Law-Enforcement Entry Level In-Home Testing series, to replace the in-person testing previously scheduled.

Due to the Coronavirus pandemic, we are faced with many challenges to provide in-person exams. Given the state safety guidelines, in-person gathering restrictions, and the ability to utilize schools safely, we are pleased to provide our clients and candidates with a safe alternative to in-person exams, namely In-Home Testing.

PES remains steadfast in our commitment to provide our clients with the most qualified pool of candidates, without sacrificing the safety and well being of our staff, clients, and candidates.

WHY ARE YOU RECEIVING THIS NOTICE?

You are receiving this notice because you are registered for the upcoming Rochester Police Department’s Entrance Exam originally set for September, 2020.

After careful consideration, the Rochester Police Department has opted to participate in the In-Home Testing process, in lieu of an in-person exam.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN TO YOU?

We will no longer be offering an in-person test in September. The in-person exam has been replaced by a new In-Home testing procedure. Over the next few weeks, Police Exam Solutions will be in touch with you via email with instructions on how to proceed.

Your exam will be rescheduled to occur in one of several sessions over a few days during the week of October 5 through October 9, 2020. As soon as the Rochester PD session dates are available, you will receive instructions and an invitation to book your exam.

In the upcoming weeks, you will receive detailed instructions on the process, requirements, and procedures necessary to participate. For your informational purposes, we have provided a few important at-a-glance highlights below.

  • There will be no additional cost to candidates.

  • You MUST meet minimum requirements for accepted hardware. On the date of your test, you will be required to have 2 devices:

  • A mobile smartphone or tablet, and

  • A desktop or laptop PC running Windows 7 or later.

NOTE: Currently, the in-home testing is only available for Windows PC’s. The Testing Application is not compatible with Apple Macintosh’s or Google Chromebook’s. If you do not have access to a Windows PC, we suggest you borrow or rent one for the day of your exam.

  • The at home testing sessions are 2 hours and 30 minutes long. The entire exam must be completed in one session. We will be hosting a number of sessions across a few weekdays during the week of October 5 through October 9, 2020. Typically, we will be offering two sessions per day: one in the morning and another in the afternoon. You will receive an invitation to reserve the test date and time that best suits your schedule from the choices available. We do not offer additional make-up dates/times, nor are weekend sessions available.

  • At this time, we are not accepting score transfers from previous exam(s). If you want to be considered eligible for the Rochester PD recruitment process, you must participate in the on-line exam.

  • You must complete your PPI essay component 5 days before your scheduled exam. If you do not fulfill this requirement, you will be disqualified and NOT permitted to participate in the exam. We advise you to complete this as soon as possible to avoid this situation. You can access your portal by visiting http://rochester.ppi-portal.com, and logging in with your email and password.

Police Exam Solution’s firmly believes this will become the new norm in the testing world. PES’s commitment to offering the finest police exam(s) to candidates while furnishing the department with the largest eligible candidate pool, remains our number one priority.

While we will continue to offer our clients a choice in in-person or in-home testing, the Rochester Police Department recognizes the need to provide the utmost safety and security to candidates, PD and PES staff, as well as the school personnel, and as such will be moving to the In-Home Testing option.

In closing, PES will be providing you with the instructions and detailed information necessary for your upcoming exam. You should expect to receive these emails by the end of September. We will also post the information to the homepage of our website. Since some ISP’s reject our email campaigns, it is your responsibility to stay in the know and check our website frequently.
